Veterans and Military Service Members
What You Need to Know
Veterans, military service members, transitioning service members, and military spouses of the armed forces of the United States, including the National Guard, may be eligible for exam point credits, expedited application processes, and/or the ability to work with a pending application. Information on this page is applicable to individuals who may qualify for these services.
Before proceeding, determine if you meet the requirements in one or more of the following categories:
Category 1
A veteran who has been honorably discharged from active-duty service in the armed forces of the United States or active duty service in a reserve component of the armed forces of the Unted States, including the National Guard, who has served for a period of 1 year or more, of which at least 90 days were served during wartime or during any conflict when military personnel were committed by the President of the United States;
Category 2
An active-duty or reserve member of the armed forces of the United States, including the National Guard.
Category 3
A transitioning military service member who is a member of the armed forces of the United States, including the National Guard, who is: (1) on active-duty status or (2) on separation leave and who is (1) within 24 months of retiring or (2) 12 months of separation;
Category 4
The spouse of a person who qualifies under Category 2 or Category 3.
